Responsibilities:
Responsible for design/development and releasing of the seat foam, trim, & comfort for vehicles
The Engineer will lead the seat foam & trim component design/development to ensure quality, craftsmanship, comfort, and functional design objectives are met
Develop trim patterns
Arrange or perform pad skiving
Ensure comfort is designed into the seat, manage open issues, & conduct assessments to meet comfort objectives
Research, plan and implement future product / production technology
Arrange or perform metal frame modification or fabrication
Create and or tune trim cover patterns for prototype seat or current mass production
Make technical documents for seat feasibility, evaluation or mass production transfer
Address current mass production problems on seat appearance issues
Maintain and update information on current development model factories as well internal departments
Job Requirements:
At least a High School diploma
1-3 years of experience in seating comfort, foam and trim, or seat complete design/development
Experience with skiving on foam
Experience with developing seat patterns
Strong technical knowledge of seat foam design and tooling and/or trim pattern development
Experience with design for assembly of seating foam and trim components and build process
Preferred assembly plant or seat launch experience
Experience sewing preferable in a manufacturing environment
Proficient on Microsoft Excel
In this position, the Prototype Seat Foam and Trim Engineer will be responsible for the prototype fabrication of automobile seats supporting the manufacturing process. Intermediate knowledge and experience in more than one specific area or operation is needed. Must be proficient in technical field; Ability to solve a wide range of problems within established guidelines.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
